I’m not entirely clear on how Joker got nominated for eleven Academy Awards, but last night it won just two. Which is probably fair! There are some decent scenes in this movie. But taken on the whole, the movie isn’t very good. Especially as a depiction of mental illness.

So, I made this video essay to break down exactly why. Hope you enjoy it, and I’ll have more coming down the pipe on a lot more topics.
